I have a hive that has both hive bodies full of bees.  I was going to make a walk away split.  Can I leave it in the same yard or will I get a lot of drift back to the old hive?

I make sure I have a frame of eggs/young brood in both.
Unless you find the queen and isolate her for a few minutes, other wise, you never know where she is
Shake off a few extra bees and give an extra frame of Capped brood.
I do a walk-away  almost every year. :)doak

Yes.

Yes.  Shake extra bees in to make up for it.
