Has anyone considered putting one of those tiny, wireless cameras inside a hive? The son of a friend mounts them to model airplanes and takes some pretty cool video.

I wondered whether it would work for bees. I'm thinking of the negatives: it's dark in the hive (so the camera would need to be near the entrance), the bees will propolize it, eventually, unless it's wrapped or actually outside the hive in some kind of housing, and so on.

Some of these only cost $60 or so, and I though it might be worth it to try taking some nifty internal pics. :)

What like this?

Not sure if it isn't only fully operational in the summer.

Remember bees propolise everything so you may have trouble getting long term pictures.

Just try beehive cam, or webcam bees or honey bee webcam or similar into google adn their is loads of sites.

The beecame is, I think, focused on an observation hive. I was trying to think of a way to put one in the hive. Yes, there's darkness, propolis, and so on. Hmmm.
