We had some beautiful sun today and boy was it welcome!
I don't ever remember such a rainy June as this one has been.
Its been so gloomy and wet even when it isn't raining, nothing drys up before the rain comes again.
Today though the sun came out and the mud started to dry up, a couple of more days of sun and it should be gone.
The bees were out working all the flowers that haven't been so water logged. My poppy buds were actually rotted from all the water before they could open and bloom.
The salvias, yarrow and catmint were thriving and covered in bees, especially bumbles.
I have never seen so many bumble bees in my yard at once, they pretty much stayed right on the same few plants out front but there were alot of them.
There were a few times they were working the same plants as my honey bees.
I truly appreciated the nice weather today and spent pretty much the whole day outside enjoying it, lack of sun can be such a bummer.
It was so nice to see the kids riding their bikes and enjoying themselves.
It was nice that my son's baseball game didn't get rained out either.
Even the poor chickens were feeling the gloom, as soon as the sun was out today they were rolling around  and spreading their wings and letting the sun could shine on them, taking their dustbaths.
They did a small amount of damage digging holes for their dustbaths and such but I couldn't really get mad about it, they needed to get out in the sun as much as I did.
They are allowed out of the coops all the time but since its been so rainy they just seem to hang out in front of or in the coops.
Today was a good day for us all, the bees, the chooks, the kids and me!!
For all of you are still getting alot of rain I wish you some sunshiny days!
