First attempt at a cut out.  Started at 2:30 PM.  Pulled down the ceiling and found about 12 combs - each comb was about 24" x 4".  Most were brood but a couple were honey.  I used a putty knife to remove the comb and put them in new foundationless frames.  Then, into two deep hives I built.  Couldn't find the queen on the comb, but as I brushed out the ceiling cavity after the comb was removed, I found her.  She looked perfect and went right in the hive.  Most gentle bees I have ever been around.  It was a perfect day.  Finished at about 5:30.  Only my second year with two hives, but now I have three!

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling.
And even more beautiful is knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

never take the top off a hive on a day that you wouldn't want the roof taken off your house
