is there such a thing as a mite free hive and what amount of mites can the bees live with. i just finished a fall mite treatment using thymol (apiguard). before the treatment, mite fall was about 10 or 12 over 24 hrs. during the treatment, mite fall increased to 20/30 per 24 hrs. after the treatment the fall is anywhere from 0 to 12 over 24 hrs. so i guess you could say that the thymol helped. i've heard several numbers and percentages that are acceptable but i'd appreciate any input that i could get.

they all pretty much have mites.  it's how many, and how they handle them that counts!
