Hello from Jacksonville, Fl

I am new to all of this but have been fascinated for a time with bees. Attended a local extension office program on bees and have become even more interested. My goal is to have a backyard hive and to learn more about maintenance and caring for the bees.
I look forwars to hours of reading in this forum :)

Welcome Smokehouse. This is great as a hobby and is a never stop learning process. If you can swing it and have room I would suggest that you start with two hives. The books that you read and I will agree, mention this to be a benefit so that you have something to compare to each other for signs of problems or successes of hives.  ;)
Hope your new hobby will bee as fascinating to you as mine is to me.

Smokehouse, welcome to our forum, (interesting handle, BTW, is there a story to go with it?  just a curious gal here).  So nice that you want to understand and study about the bees a whole bunch before you delve deep.  When you do, when you get your bees, one fine day, you will see how deeply you will be held under their spell -- we all are.  It seems that the more that you get to know the bees, the more you want to know about them.  It is a never ending story of learning.  This will be a place where you can tell your stories, tales and experiences, to people that love to listen and also offer advice when asked.  Stick around, we love new members.  Have that wonderful and most awesome day, health.
