I am one happy beek today! After several weeks of unusually cold weather (cold for Alabama, that is), the temps finally began returning to normal. Today was low 60's, so I took off work early and came home to take a look at the hives.....lo and behold: there were bees flying in and out of the hives, hanging out on the "porch" and just generally having a large old time! I am cautiously optimistic that they will continue to thrive.
It is what it is.......except when it isn't.

It is good to see them flying around and moving into and out of the hive.  We had a warm spell here, in the low 50's. The girls took advantage of the weather and did a little house keeping. The weather in eastern Washington has a very mild, so if it keeps up we may have a early spring. I know that I'm being overly optimistic, but what's life without hope.

He who would gather honey must bear the sting of the bees.
