Anyone know how you go about getting honey tested in Oz? I have heard of jellybush honeys that have medicinal qualities, but how do you find this out?

I can find nothing on the net. Anyone got a link, or any practical experiece?

Whats involved, sample sizes, costs etc??

Any info would be great.

Your local Dept. Primary Industry will give you details. Make sure you are registered to keep bees.

Gribbles do the annual free test here for foul brood etc on behalf of the DPI. I would think they could run any test you want, but would be a few hundred dollars.

Are you looking specifically at having the honey tested for it's medicinal properties? i.e. antibacterial effects? To have anything that states a medicinal benefit in humans it needs to be tested to the Therapeutic Goods Associaton standards (TGA). They would be my first port of call...

Plenty of jar labels state that their honey is UMF rated xx.xx etc - just wanted to know where they get it tested, as I would like to know what mine is...
