Have gotten 2 swarm calls this morning before noon.
These are the first of the year.
Will have pics if there still there when I get off work.

most often i find my greatest source of stress to be OPS  ( other peoples stupidity )

It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and in so doing remove all doubt.

We are still a week to ten days out from swarming in my area. Seeing the signs though, drone brood and queen cups.

Swarm season, my favorite time of year!

Just to let y'all know Dallas had a lot of fun giving me that title. Its actually complementary and embarrassing at the same time.

Every season though, I call everyone listed in the phonebook, all businesses, the zoo, police departments, fire stations and all nonprofit organizations and tell them I need their swarms so I can give the title justice.

I have even been known to beg little old ladies for swarms, I have no humility when it comes to bees.

JP, here (Florida) you can put your name in with the county extension office for swarm removal referrals. If someone calls a pest control service, they refer the caller to the extension office which then gives them the numbers of folks willing to remove swarms. a buddy of mine receives about 3 calls a week. i want to get alittle experience with him in removals before I drop my name and number with the office. Kinda weird though since the state of Florida's official position is to destroy all swarms.

Btw, what do you do with the swarms? Are you boxing them all up for your apairy??? Big Yard???

First off, my apologies to my buddy Bailey for highjacking his thread. Because he is my buddy I know he'll cut me some slack, so Doug to answer your question, I can only keep so many colonies. I came out of winter with 31, just in the last week I am now at 33.

Bailey, who started this post gets whatever bees he wants as he is a really good friend who has been steadily growing his apiary. Besides, he also takes me fishing.  :-D

I have other friends I donate bees to as well, one of which makes his living by simply selling his honey. I donate swarms and cut-out colonies to him.

I am always willing to help new keepers as well if I have the time and routinely donate bees to them.

Soon I believe I will be selling them as well.
