Did a cutout on Thursday in Austin and found 6 swarm cells.

Today at work, under our outside stairwell I stored 2 swarm traps to later hang in nearby trees. Too late. A swarm established in the larger of the two swarm traps, naturally. Gotta love lemon grass oil and swarm traps that take deep frames.  :)

So with all this early spring rain, I think we Texans should be prepared for swarm season 3 weeks early.

We had a hell of a Morel season as well. I gathered 35 lb.

Sold 10kg (22 lb) to local restaurants for $455. Took off 2 days of work to hunt, lol, lost far more than I made, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. Even made a video on how to hunt morel mushrooms in Texas.

Gave 3 lb to friends, and dried the rest for my pasta sauces. ah.... life was good that week.

Hey, I'm watching the video now, actually letting it load. You may want to check it, could be my computer, perhaps but lots of buffering going on.

I would love to gather morels. They are by far the best I've ever had!

Great video.  I wish I had more time (and land) to try that.

Well then, if you have no Morel's in LA, you are officially invited to hunt with me as your own personal guide next year.

I'm not really sure if we have them here or not. I am interesting in learning to pick the ones that won't kill me.

When's a good time to pick them?
