That may sound like a dumb question as I've read a ton about beekeeping.

I just don't understand the purpose of buying nuc boxes, or nuc colonies.

Can someone enlighten me on how these help me as a beekeeper?

Be sure to read all the way to the end of Michael's page on nucs - that's where all the uses of the nuc are found - and there are many.

In the end, the nuc may be to the beekeeper what the bandana is to the Girl Scout - at least a dozen uses (although my troop found 100 uses of the bandana!)
