Went over to my Dad's to wish him a Happy Fathers day.  He told me that he had checked the bait hive yesterday and not a bee was near it.  We walked out into the woods where it was and there were maybe 50 bees flying and crawling around the front of the hive.  I have already taken two swarms from this spot!  I am not sure if this is a swarm or just bees checking it out.  I will wait a day or two and keep and eye on it.  I checked my other bait hive too.  There are some bees on the front of it but I think they are leftover from a swarm I took last week.  The day after I got that swarm I took the bait hive back out and was going to put it in the same tree but there were 50 or so bees piled up on the side of that tree.  Now I took the hive after dark.  Why weren't all the field bee's in the hive?   This has happened each time I have brought a swarm home.  The next day there are 50 or so bees at the old sight?  I don't know if they are left over bees or field bees going back to the old sight.  Where the bait hives are is about 3/4 mile from my house and where I put the new hives.  So far I have brought home four swarms and they all have outdone the two packages and the nuc that I started this year?  The nuc is a disapointment.  A carnolian queen but not much brood.  Seems they keep backfilling the brood nest with honey.  No queen cells though.

I have about 20 colonies at my farm so have alot of activity.  At dusk everynight you can find bee's by my house that didn't make it back so just spend the night where ever they land.  Some are just weak and never make it back but many leave when it warms up.
