How do you store wax?

I crushed/strained two frames of honey and washed the wax. After I thought it was dry, I put it in a metal coffee can and closed the lid. Now it is getting dark gray(mold?). I have two more frames worth to wash tomorrow and don't want to ruin it. What should I keep it in so it won't mold? Can I just wash the moldy wax to salvage it, or just trash it? Thanks!

Heat it in an old pan with an inch or two of water. After it cools the "disc" of wax can be removed and stored in the open. Re-melt with the next batch.

In the future, you can let the bees clean it up, dry it out some to get some of the honey out of the wax.  If you are worried about beetles getting in it, stick it in the freezer.  But your old wax is still good.  Any trash/crap you can filter out of the wax.

Honey will crystallize.
Wax will bloom. "mold"

Neither hurts anything. Just remelt it when ready to use or sell.

PS. I store it where it can breathe, and not sweat. "attract condensation"

I have a large tupperware container I keep in the freezer. When I have enough, I melt it down in my solar wax melter.
