I could use some advice please dear people.

I caught a small swarm 3 night ago and another large swarm last night. I thought it would be best to combine these 2 swarms because  I didn't think the smaller one could make it.

Early this morning, I did a combine with the strong swarm on top, small swarm below, newspaper between. Both have their own entrances. I closed up both entrances to the size of 1 bee until they are used to each other.

Well I have been watching them throughout the day and the top larger swarm seems to be doing ok orienting to the top entrance.

But the bottom smaller swarm has been frantic all day and clumps of bees hanging all around the bottom of the hive. Chaos at the entrance. Looks like some fighting. Who are they fighting with?? All my other hives are going about their business very peacefully.

Any ideas what could be happening?

Will this calm down soon?

Thanks for the help

All will be well in 48 hours, if they don't abscond. That is a possibility with all swarms.

Smoke is always good in a combine if there is doubt.  It will add to confusion over who is who.
