It looks like we had one of our best spring flows in a long time here. Unfortunately I missed it I spent the spring splitting hives building up some of my numbers. I just supered some of the hive i split I'm hoping we have a good fall flow. sound like you got a good spot for a hive
never take the top off a hive on a day that you wouldn't want the roof taken off your house

Yes, we had a fantastic spring flow, but I am like you, I concentrated on splitting and building hives rather than honey production. The good flow had helped in the build up.

I am letting five swarms build up right now, all but two are in there second brood box.  Not sure If I will be able to super for the fall flow or not?  Using all foundationless so will super when I can if just to let them draw comb for next spring.

Shawn

Irwin, I have two supers on one hive, 3 supers on the second hive and have to add another. The other two hives, well I already posted on that and dont feel like being depressed today  I would say all in all its been a good spring.

Shawn

Just checked the two hives and I had to add another super, so 4 supers on one and three supers on another. The bees are doing great this year. The supers that are on were all capped so I hope I did not add them too late.

I just harvested 3 supers from my first year hive now it only has 2 supers on it.  My new hives now have 1 super each and I'll probably put another one on all hives this week.

much better here also.  guess all that spring rain was a blessing in disguise!  the blackberry bloom is the best it's been in years and everything else is blooming like crazy also.  i think we might be reaching the end of this flow in another week or so....but the rain that is predicted next week might help extend it a bit.

congrats Irwin.  i know you are probably really happy about the honey after the year you have had!!!!!!!!!

We had a good spring in NE OH. I bottled 105.5 pounds of honey off three hives and a cutout. I had to leave about 8 or 9 med. frames in the hives because it wasn't capped enough yet. Out of the three hives, one had swarmed, and one was a nuc started April 29! I am quite pleased with this harvest. It was my first spring flow! :-D
