This is a question for those of you who have experience with top entrances. I am wondering how to construct a pollen collector for mine. I would appreciate any thoughts or input from those who have already done it. Or if there is one available from a supplier that would be good for use with top entrances?

Thanks for any feedback.

If you are running ten frame equipment you can just buy a Sundance II.  Basically though, the concept is simple enough.  You force the bees throuigh #5 hardware cloth which dislodges the pollen.  You want the screen under this spot to be #7 so the pollen will fall through but the bees can't get in, and you want the drawer to have screen door screen to let the air flow through but not let the pollen fall through and a 3/8" hole somewhere for the drones and virgin queens to get in and out but make enough of a traffic jam to make most of the workers go through the trap.  The #5 can be vertical or horizontal but if it's horizontal they will have to go up and over and back down somehow where if it's vertical they just go through and on in.

A variation I keep meaning to try is to make a #7 landing board as someone once posted that the bees landing on their SBB landing were losing a lot of pollen...
