I was talking to my Brother in law about getting a ground squirrel out of his house ( I do wildlife removal) and the subject of bees came up.  Turns out he got 2 hives going this Spring and was going to inspect them today, Needless to say i got myself invited to come take a look. I still don't have any bees yet so i haven't been able to look at a real hive, no way was I letting this opportunity go by. All I have to say is AWESOME. Put the smoke on them and they were buzzing like crazy, got to see honey ( capped and uncapped), capped brood, pollen, larvae and eggs. Everything looked like the pics I have seen.  Both hives are doing well. Took a small sample of the honey which was almost clear. Sure tasted good!  I am for sure getting some this Spring, fnally got the Wife talked into it.  Anyway, just thought I would share.

I am right there with ya, got my first chance to do that 20 some years ago, with my bosses father, the desire has been there ever since. It resurfaced pretty strong this summer, and after the picnic at Bjorn Apiaries yesterday, got the full green light from the wife, and she is going to get involved now too, after seeing that her fears were unfounded. I am waiting till spring too, as I still have a LOT to learn, before I take the responsibility of caring for a hive. I am devouring everything I can, and one of the door prizes we won yesterday was "BeeKeeping For Dummies"...how fitting... :-D, but I am really liking the book, and have a few others on the way, plus the mountains of info you get right here on this forum.
When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. ~ Thomas Jefferson ~
