Frame Assembly

I just got a hive for Christmas, along with grooved top bar frames and a plastic-based foundation. Do I need to assemble them differently than a wedge top bar? As a newbee, I have no idea what to expect or any experience in assembling the woodenware and frames. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Obviously you can't break out the wedge... but basically they go together the same way, yes.

Call me crazy, but I like assembling all the hives parts. If I was having to assemble the quantities that some of the commercial guys on here do, I might have a different story, but right now it's still enjoyable.

Building the equipment is half the fun, with or with out the 4 year old helping  :-D.

As far as frame assembly goes you may want to take a look at Robo's website he has lots of useful information including some videos to watch that can be very helpful.

On the plastic foundation I put it in before the bottom bar goes on. I'm not sure if this is the correct way, just how I have done it.

The plastic foundation will bend enough to put the top then the bottom in a finished frame, but I normally put them in there as I nail them together.   The kid helps hold them and gives him something to do.
