Ok i made my sugar board last night, I could do a better job next time but oh well. I took it down to the hive when I realized, I forgot my hive tool. So i had to bang on the hive to get it apart, the guard bees did not like this, thank goodness I wore my bee suit. But it told me two things , 1) the ladies are still alive. and b) the ball is not at the top of the hive as of yet. So I think that means that they are doing pretty good .   Right?

Sounds good but even if not you did everything you could to help them. I look at it this way worse case you have drawn comb for spring. Drawn comb is like gold to a bee keeper.

i added fondant to all of my hives a few weeks ago when we had the warm spell...checked on them today and of the 6 hives in my backyard i had lost one..they just didnt make it up into the next box and another is just about gone...probably 100 bees or so left...the cluster was too small to begin with... its been way too long of a cold snap...plenty of stores o the sides of the clusters, the bees just couldnt move to get to it!  hopeing we get some warmer weather....another month and a half and we can make it!
