I was contacted yesterday by a young lady in East Brady, Clarion County, PA  who is looking for some help getting started.  She and her father want to try their hand at beekeeping.  I would be more than willing to help, but it's a two hour trip for me.  I was hoping we could find them someone closer who would be willing to help.  They just need someone to double check their set-up and answer some questions.  Come on, I am sure there's someone nearby.

You can contact The Reich family in Butler. They are the county coordinator for the Pennsylvania Backyard Beekeepers Association. They also will be manning the observation hive at Jennings State park, not too far from you. I am sure they would help you in any way possible.

The backyard beekeepers group does not have county association setup. But operate as a network of beekeepers across the state dedicated to helping, and working on educational issues in the bee industry.

The Reich's can be contacted here:

And the homepage for the Pennsylvania Backyard beekeepers Association is found here:

We more than welcome new and beginners to get involved and join the PBBA. We are less than 1 year old but just reached 200 in membership. check out the programs offered. Regardless of other association memberships you join, this is one you may find very beneficial and worthwhile.

Let me know if you have any questions. And who knows...if your the only beekeeper in Clairion County, you may want to consider being the County Coordinator.  ;)

Today's beginners....are tomorrows mentors!
