Welcome Honeygirl from Deltona.  I am a first year Central Florida beek also.  Started my first hive about a month ago and started a 2nd hive last weekend from a swarm/cutout that I got with the help of Hardwood, my mentor.  If you don't already have a mentor, I strongly encourage you to find one.  I thought I had researched and study enough so that I wouldn't have any questions once my bees arrived.  I was wrong  :). I am not sure where in Central Fl. you are located but there is a beekeeping in club in Volusia County, Beekeepers of Volusia County Florida that meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month.  You missed a presentation on making mead in February and I am sure they wouldn't mind you bringing some of your yummy treats to the meetings.  Good luck with your new addiction.
