anyone outside of alaska plant and grow fire weed from seed.  I just got a bunch of seed as a gift from a old friend from AK

Kathyp

i have.  it's hard to start from seed and i would suggest that you try starting it in large pots then transplanting it when it's well established.  much easier to plant the root than the seed.
i have also been told that the seed needs to be stressed before planting.  was told to put it in the freezer for a few days before planting.  you might want to try that with some of your seeds and see if they start better.  i have not done it yet.
don't try to plant on an windy day!! :-D

Thanks Kathy
I did put all the seeds in the freezer a couple of days ago.  The container said it was nessessary.   As for not planting on windy days, I have never seen seeds this small.  There like dust.  Speaking of Cindi I know she moved but where has she been

It needs perhaps acid soil. Bare moist surface. It grows in difficult areas where other plants not grow.

But it is easier if you pick roots from nature.

I wonder what advise you need than put a root piece into soil.
They are growing here everywhere. In sandy soil it does not give honey.

If you do that pain, I recommend raspberry plants. If you continuous flowering raspberry, it make frowers several months. It needs fertilizarion. Fireweed blooms 3 weeks.

Polka raspberry is a huge plant. 2 metres high. One stem may carry 200 flowers.

Nice berries!!   I have a farm and have a large garden of berries myself along with a orchard of apple and pear trees, herb gardens, a 75 X 100 ft, fenced vegi garden, wild flowers, sumac, milkweed, thistle you name it.    Bee's have no problem making honey as long as the weather co-operates.  Fire weed is not native to us.   As for it being a bee plant, thats just a bonus.  I lived in Alaska through the 80s and miss seeing it.  I dont have root stock yet so its not as easy as putting "root pc in soil".  I found the web page link above yesterday and according to this gentleman that wrote it, he had his share of failures.

We have sometimes here white fireweeds, They are nice in nature among thousands red plants.
Couple of times I have moved a white  fireweed into garden. In garden it looks like a common weed.

I understand. It is your soul landscape.

I take from  other places "plant memories". It works like Bonsai. When I look that plant, my memories start to wander on htose landscapes.
