This one was a lot of fun. I removed these for a fire fighter, very gentle bees on a very windy day.

Nice juggling act, putting those combs in the frames by yourself.

Love your slow, deliberate movements.

As always, thanks for posting!

JP, I really enjoy your videos and have learned tons from watching. One question. I have noticed on more than one occasion that you have held the palm of your hand about a 1/2 inch away from the nest/swarm you are about to retrieve. Are you just trying to gauge the bee's temperament or is it something else?
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is probably not for you.

This was such a sweet removal. I so much enjoy watching you work JP with your slow, calm movements.

Thanks for sharing once again

You got it right.

If they are acting unusually runny, I spray them some with sugar water as they may be a dry swarm that needs feeding. In my experience spraying a runny swarm with feed seems to calm them a great deal.

After I spray with feed I like to wait several minutes to a half hour before shaking them, if I have the time.

Another great video JP!  How many swarms have you got in your area this year?  Swarms are few and far between here this year due to the never ending rain I guess.  :-\

JP

Jason, I rarely ever have to requeen any hive in my area. Smoke eater not quite sure how many swarms this season under twenty I believe.

So does the cajun bee out perform and displace the AHB?  :-D

Jason, can't answer that one. I'm just glad at this point in time I'm not hearing more about them in my neck of the woods.
