The uncapping plane is a hand held/operated tool. If it were mounted you would lose the ability to manipulate the tool. Just being literal here as I can see by the smilies you figured that out.  :-D

I bought one after watching JP's video of him using it. They work great.

I recently saw Kirk Webster's setup in action....it was a fixed blade (vibrating), and the combs were dragged over the blade....overall I thought it was a good setup.

Also bought ours after watching JP's video (JP you should get a commission  :-D) and it is an awesome tool.  My wife works it much better than I do, so it takes a little practice.  As for tips: figure out your depth setting to pull caps but not much more, it gets REAL hot so turn off if not in use, and don't accidently touch or bump, or you will have a major burn  :'(.

I do tend to turn mine off about every three frames or so, let it cool some then its back on. It does tend to get quite hot.

yep JP you said that in the video... and that's what I found out you had to do... turn that sucker off after a couple of frames. Too bad there isn't a temp adjustment on it... about the only thing missing.

Yeah Doug, I agree. I wonder how much more you'd pay if it had a thermostat?

Here is JP Hope you don't mind me posting it
I had to search you got a good amount of Videos LOL
Extracting Honey Video
and from another post an answer to heat control
QuoteI would really recommend you getting one of Maxant's small extractor speed controllers they tend to get ooooverly hot if your not constantly and I mean constantly using it and using the switch or a bucket of water (Maxant would probably NOT recommend it either) gets old fast, especially when you don't have a hot tool at the ready. I put in my vote for a thermostat but Maxant said that would make it too pricey
The speed control idea is tried, tested and works.
I have been exploring thermostats, just trying to do this while keeping it cost friendly is tough.
