Mann Lake is ongoing for most purchases of $100.00 or more. Brushy Mountain I believe starts closer to Thanksgiving.

TAANSTAAFL!!!

There aren't any such things as a free lunch!  Or shipping.   Shop carefully.

Brushy actually uses the catalog prices when shipping free in December. They do not raise the price then offer free shipping. The code is usually Santa or something like that.
watch here when it becomes available:

I have not used the free shipping with other suppliers which is why I did not comment on their policies. But as always, buyer beware and know the facts beforehand. No matter who the supplier. Ask about restrictions the devil could be in the details. :)

I usually go with Mann Lake -  I've comparison shopped, and they are competitive.  they do restrict certain items, but they are up front about it, providing you can figure out what the little symbols are.  I have a Dadant within 1.5 hours of me, but it still costs an arm and a leg to get that shipped from there.

Brushy is free East of Mississippi ---- starts in Dec. Look for ad in Bee Culture. There was another last year seems maybe Dadant??? It was not Kelly.

We've used Brushy's Free Shipping special after Thanksgiving for the past three years. It's so good we actually hold off all our orders for it. I hope they do it this year. :-D

Woodchopper,
I think one of the reasons Brushy opened the Lewisburg branch was to facilitate shipping to the Northeast. With the economy the way it is you may see more free shipping in the off season to increase sales. Hopefully more will jump on board. :)

Free shipping also helps Brushy clear out inventory before the end of the year and to clean out my bank account.    But I do like it, every year.

woodchopper

That would be nice Ken as long as they don't raise their prices like Mann-Lake did when they started their free shipping deal.
BTW, Nice meeting you at the Mass Bee Field Day !!

I've been using the free shipping at Brushy Mtn. for a couple of years now and it's usually the last two or three weeks of the year in December.  It saves me about $100 a year in shipping charges.

montauk170

Is there a minimum for Brushy Mtn free shipping?
And does the free shipping work for those in CA?

Unfortunately it has been east of the Mississippi.Brushys two shipping facilities are in Georgia and PA.

I switched most of my buying to Mann Lake because of the year-round free shipping.  It is actually cheaper for me to get stuff Minnesota than Betterbee that is a couple hours away or Brushy.
