I learned a valuable lesson today, heating rosin in pyrex does not work! The measuring cup explodes into shards of glass!

On the stove top or in the microwave?

On a small electric burner outside.

I have had good success with pyrex, in the welding shop, heating small parts in water for cleaning before welding. Will have to change my process now!

Pyrex is not supposed to do that, was it true pyrex?

Pyrex deals poorly with uneven and high heat.  You can't fry in it...it wants the thermal mass and temp stability of the water boiling off.

We have blown up oven dishes by forgetting that and sticking them under the broiler "just to brown it up".....even though it says right on the glass "not for broiler"

Ahhh, the dreaded brain flatulence; I know it well!
You jerk your welding helmet off, then peel off your heavy leather gauntlets, so you can get a real good grip on that smoking hot piece of steel! :hissyfit:
