For whatever reason...I had a PM board inserted under the screen bottom board of one of my hives. It must have been on there at least a month.  I decided to pull it out today to see what was on it and found a wax moth larvae.  It was on the board but under the screen bottom.. My question is what do I do now???? I haven't gone in the hives lately due to the colder weather! Now I'm afraid to because I don't know what I will find.

Advise me please!

Thank you,

~Angie

You sure it is a wax moth larvae. Seems a little early for wax moth larvae. I would not be too concerned at this point.

A PM board under a screen bottom makes a great wax moth breeding area. Remove the board and put it away and your problem should be solved. The larva was most likely born there and the bees cannot get to it to remove it. Another month or two and you would have a board full of them and SHB.

Man does beekeeping have a lot of abbreviations . . . what is a PM board . . . have searched the list, googled it . . . only thing that comes up is this thread :?

More than likely referring to a sticky board which is used for mite counts. Most folks take them out from under the Screened Bottom Board (SBB) after the mite count. Alot of the SBB's have a slot so that you slide the sticky board under the screen.

PM short for pest management, which is short for Integrated Pest Management (IPM), your own method of controlling mites, moths, small hive beetle (SHB) etc.
