My neighbor (~ one mile away) is starting into beekeeping and has purchased 15 medium boxes and spray painted them with an outdoor paint. He asked me if the smell would be harmful to his bees (he will get three packages in early April) or and possible over spray that may have gotten on to his frames. I have never used a spray so I have no idea what to tell him so I thought I would ask the forum as many answers are available here.  -Mike

Listen to others but make your own decisions. That way you own the results.

As long as he only painted the outsides it should be all good.

Thanks for the input. If there is no chance of harm, I may just spray if I get more new boxes as I do not like having to paint inside of the hand holds. I am lazy and usually used rollers.   -Mike

The only way to paint. All sides and edges at one time.   Two trees, a rope and a spray gun

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907
