Used 6 lbs of goldenrod honey to brew 10 gallons of my American-style Honey Wheat. . . . . It tastes as good as it looks. :cheer: :cheer:

BEEEEE-U-TI-FUL!  I'm droooling.

I care for my bees during Spring, Summer and Fall, but Winter is for brewing beer :)  Into each batch (even kits) honey is always added during the boil 8-).

Care to share that recipe?  My brew kettle is only a six gallon but I can cut ingrediants in half.

It's a mini mash/partial extract.  Let me know if you have any questions.  REMEMBER, IT'S A 10 GAL. BATCH.

6 lbs Goldenrod Honey
6 lbs Dry M&F UK Wheat Malt Extract
1 lb 120l carmel
½ lb 80l carmel
2 oz Sterling Boil
2 oz palisade Aroma
Wyeast 1010 American Wheat Activator

Very Good!  Thanks many times!

Is it a 60 or 90 minute boil?  Sterlings in at beginning for duration?  Palisades at end?  Last 5?  Thanks again!

All of my boils are for 60 minutes, however, I practice "extract late" brewing, in that my extract is added during the last 10-15 minutes of the boil.  Sterlings are for the duration.  Palisades go in as you wish for aroma.  I usually add during the last minute or two since I figure the wort will spend the next 1/2 cooling (immersion chiller).

Alright, thanks again.  When I get some honey this year I'll be sure to let you know how it goes cutting recipe in half.  I suppose it doesn't have to be goldenrod honey, right (I like to leave that for my bees)?

You can use any honey BUT, from my experience nothing ferments as good as GR honey.  That stuff is awesome to brew with.

Definitely when you brew with honey you lighten up the beer.  With the wheat and the darker caramel malt, it's nicely balanced.  Definitely not a heavy beer.  I was thinking that it would be a good lawnmower beer in the summer.  My hydrometer is broken, but my guess would be 1.055 to about 1.011.

I can hear my lips smacking as they stand out at the curb tying to hitch a ride to your place!

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.
