what angle is the slanted landing board of a hive stand should be? or does it even matter, and for that matter are the slanted fronts even necessary. I presently have SBB bottoms made up with a 4" porch or landing area at the entrance but no slanted landing board. Should I add one?

thanks

the one I have is on a 45, but I wouldn't think you'd need one with a 4" porch

I don't use landing boards, I just make my bottom boards 24 inches long -- gives a little extra room in front for the same purpose.

I don't have a landing board of any kind. Just about 1/2 inch of space to land on if they wish to, but they just fly right into the hive most of the time.

I used to put landing boards on, but since I went to top entrances I've seen they never use them anyway.  They are a waste of material and work.  Any angle will do.  The only real purpose of the angle is to run the water off.
