Can anyone help me with the identification of this shrub plant. It is one of the early plant blooms for our area. I got clippings from along the interstate median. It looks like the mature shrubs were around 8' tall and the blooms are very fragrant. I would like to get these going near the bee yards as a natural, early pollen source.

Does it get red round berries later?  It might be Amelanchier canadensis or Shadblow.

I do not know. I was traveling back and forth to the Hospital where my other half had surgery and on the day I brought her home I had put the pruners in to stop and take a couple clips to find out what it could be. It could very well be in the canadensis family. It is the only thing blooming as of now.

Hi! It really looks like winter flowering honeysuckle from the pictures. It is also known as "Sweet-breath-of-spring." Its official name is "Lonicera fragrantissima."  It shouldm't be too hard to find in a plantsman catalog.  Hope this is helpful. I understand that the flowers' fragance is fantastic.

Thanks ! brooklynbees, I think you may have nailed that one on the head. The flowers, leaves and buds look identical.
