I can relate to your feelings for sure.

I am concrete contractor myself, and having these bees (40+ hives) to work is like a breath of fresh air after working with human employees and most customers/contractors these days.

1. They ARE calming (except when they're stinging).
2. They're fascinating.
3. They give me the most delicious honey.
4. They make me look tougher than my husband.
5. They give my kids awesome tools (fresh comb) for school projects/talks.
6. They pollinate my crops.

I am a High School Teacher, and I deal not only with over 100 students per day, but anytime I discipline one then I have to deal with parents.

Yes, our society has changed a lot in the last few years. Sometimes I wish for the good old days.

But back to the original post, I come home and tend to my bees and let the worries of the day fade away.

I love my bees

they pollinate my orchard which is nice. they occassionally even give me some honey, also nice
plus they are fascinating to watch just going about their daily business.

Beekeeping is one of the top three best things in the world.

Because of the negative reports surrounding the survival of the honey bee. I have the space in a rural area as well as the financial means - I could not come up with a reason not to after those bases were covered. I also work a 9-5 desk job, so this is a great hobby for getting outside.

One reason I love beekeeping is because hanging out with other beeks - online & in person - is so much fun.
