I thought, I would post this here. It might belong in the Coffee House, but it is about Bee Keeping.
My first attempt at beehaving is about 3 weeks away. I have had 2 packages ordered, since the first week of January.
I NOW, find out about an Amish, who is in the Bee Business, and is fairly close. He makes wooden ware, sells honey, and does custom extracting. He is also; brokering packages of bees, from the same place I ordered mine. This is going to save me a half of a day on the road! Going back to see him next week! Get some more wooden ware and maybe another package! YEE HA!
(the forum needs one of them yellow critters doing back flips!)
Live long and prosper!

I bought my first hive equipment from a well known supplier.  I still buy from them, but have also very much enjoyed meeting people with small enterprises in the  bee keeping community who supply stuff we need. Handshake deals and quality goods.

Last year when I was looking for replacements the closest available source seemed to be 125 miles. These were all importing bees from the south. Just happened to check Craiglist one night and found a guy 1/2 hr away selling locally raised nucs. Turned out to be great bees.

It's not what you know............

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
