Lady called about some bees in a tree.  Have not been out there yet but she says the hole is about 5 feet up.  She doesn't want the tree cut because of the shade in her back yard.  I would like to get them out of there for her and need some advice on what to do.   Any suggestions?

If you can't cut the tree down or cut the side out of it then the only thing left is a trap out.

To be able to do a trap out you will will need a frame of brood that HAS eggs on it so they can make a new queen or another hive (preferably weak to avoid fighting). I did do one last year with a very ripe queen cell and a frame of brood but they accepted the new queen right away.

Have you ever done a trap out? If not check out several threads here in the bee removal section.
those hot bees will have you steppin and a fetchin like your heads on fire and your keister is a catchin!!!

Bees will be bees and do as they please!

Thanks, I am going to look at the threads tonight and see about it tomorrow.  Looks like trapout is the only way.

Ya, trap it out.   Then caulk the hole shut afterwards to trap in the SHB.
