I put up a question on my FB page asking "friends" if I moved nextdoor to you and introduced myself as a beekeeper what would your reaction be?  Alot of people replied and the general consensus was they thought it was cool, and an honorable thing to help out the bees.  Most everyone said they would ask me for some free honey.  A few people who  even said they themselves or their children we're allergic but we're very open minded to the idea.  I was sure it would go the opposite way, but I guess these days people from all walks are getting better info and are more open-minded about stuff?  It will be my dumb luck when I do this I'll get neighbors that are %^&*()!!!  I heard this a newbee worry?  One of  my next door neighbors actually wants me to get started and put the hive in her yard...that's actually pretty good cause I don't think my landlord would go for it?  My other neighbor...don't even get me started!!!  So how are your neighbors?

They better be cool with the idea because the bees were there before them.      And I would think they would fuss over my rooster at 4 in the morning before complaining over bees.

And never underestimate the power of free honey.

So far so good with all of mine.

I don't think half of my dozen or so neighbors even know I have bees, and there are 30 hives on my 10 acres here now. Those that do know, only know because I've told them, or they noticed and knew what the boxes were. We are rural and they all live on at least an acre, so we too aren't crowded by any means, and I only keep a few ( half dozen or so) around home here during the summer.

My neighbors were actually over today in my backyard and never even noticed the bees.  They were very active today too.  Once they were told about them the couldn't believe how we could actually stand beside the hive without getting stung.  I said shoot, me, my wife, and child sometimes sit out here right beside the hive watching them for hours.  They thought it was cool.

We've had bees here for 34 years with a 3 year period without.  In that time they've built a housing development next door, and I don't think anybody even knows unless they come on the land.  Still I seem to make the bees mad, and don't want to have problems with my neighbors, so they're still around 400 feet away from the nearest houses.

Both of my neighbors are about 1/4 mile away on each side of us.  One of them says they get visits when their garden hose leaks.  Other than that, they don't see them except when the clover in their yards bloom.
