Interesting.   Never heard of such a thing.  Wish they would have explained why

You learn something new everyday.  Maybe in the way it is braided?    What about when dipping candles and you are making 2 with the same string?   One would be up in the candle and one would be down.   You would have to cut the string and retie before dipping so both would be up.   Or is it just with their wicks?

I know this thread is a little old but in reading that web page they state towards the bottom that if you use flat wick you don't have to worry about "direction".   I had seen another place that said to use flat wick in tapers.  Now I was under the impression that square braided was the best to use.

I'm a bit confused now.

Ok, I see now that flat wick is recommended for paraffin candles and square braided wicks are recommended for beeswax.  I was probably already told this detail by some of you fine folks...and I forgot it. ;)   Ed

American blood spilled to protect the freedom and peace of people all over the world.  320,000 USA casualties in WWI, 1,076,000 USA casualties in WWII, 128,000 USA casualties in the Korean War, 211,000 casualties in the Vietnam "conflict", 57,000 USA casualties in "War on Terror".  Benghazi, Libya, 13 USA casualties. These figures don't include 70,000 MIA.  But, the leaders of one political party of the United States of America continue to make the statement..."What difference does it make?".
