yeah, that has happened more than once. You get in a hurrry and forget that frame you were short.
It's a sure sign that I'm not drinkin enough !

I have that problem too when I place and empty super on top and baggie feed. They build comb everywhere except where I want them to.

Very nice looking comb. Perhaps it can be salvaged with one of those hinged frames?

Cut it out and rubber band it into a frame.  Use those really big rubber bands.  The bees will attach the comb to the frame, cut through the rubber band and take it out the front door of the hive.

I bought a hive from an estate woodware was in bad shape, didn't even take of top before I got it home.  The super it had on top of brood box had been an empty box over a pint feeder, the entire super was full of comb, honey and brood running from the jar out to the sides of the super.  I caught a swarm and left a frame out, later added a med super on it, they built a comb on the bottom of a med frame to fill in the space.  Started to cut it out and put in a frame, so far leaving it on the med frame.

Planning on making 3" ring boxes to use with my baggie feeding that way they have less room to build.  I had to remove a 7" x 3 1/2" comb from one of my hives  It had about 4 cells of pollen and about 4% nectar so I did not feel like I was losing a lot.
