 Hope you all have a good day today

According to legend, when St. Ambrose was an infant bees swarmed around his mouth.  This lead his father to proclaim, "when he becomes a man he will be a powerful preacher".  His father's words became true---St. Ambrose preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ boldly and powerfully.

He is patron saint of beekeepers and honey makers.  His feast day is celebrated December 7th.

So he's a patron saint of bee keepers because some bees flew around him as a baby in the 4th century?  Centuries before Langstroth invented the bee hive.  It seems to me that Brother Adam would be a more appropriate patron saint for bee keepers; but I guess he's not a saint yet.

Hmmm .... let's see....December 7th ..... that seems to ring a bell in US history too.  :(

Hmmm, Ambrose - ambrosia.  Interesting story edward!  Thanks for posting it.  I'm not a Catholic either but history and legends always interest me.  Happy Bee-feast day to you too.  May you celebrate with lot's of mead and honey!

Do you think they knew the difference between a yellow jacket and a honey bee back then?  Maybe it was yellow jackets flying around him as a baby?

I know I sure got stung a lot by wasps and hornets as a kid.  A sign?  :-D

Happy St Ambrose day to all Beekeepers!!  The Patron Saint day is just about over here in Oz but still to come for you folks in US and Europe. Let's toast with some well aged mead!.
