I've read several threads that sugest sealing a hive top feeder's joints with melted wax.  Would silicone caulk be a viable alternative?  What about sealing all the inside surfaces?  I'm thinking some kind of polyurethane, or is that not necessary because the sugar water will coat is soon enough?

The top feeders I made earlier this year tended to leak, even after using silicone caulk.  The ones I recently made don't leak.  For them, I used lots and lots of glue between the boards, then sealed the reservoirs with several layers of shellac.

Ok, I'll try that.  I guess tight assembly tolerances will make a difference too.
