mouse got the axe today

I was working on a dozen research hives today and then saw something quite unusual. I had two frames removed from a 10 frame langstroth when a little feild mouse ran into the entrance. It was covered in angry guards immediately and overwhelmed before I could get my hands anywhere near.

Gee I'm glad we don't have africanised bees here.

What interesting have you seen enter a hive?

The only thing I have seen try to enter my hive was a black bodied bug with a red head, I smashed it becuase it kept trying to get in and as soon as I got it knocked down the bees attacked it. Anyone know what it was? Thanks :D

This is a wasp nest that was on a starter strip in one of my hives.

No idea.  Maybe what I have posted is similar.  These blister beetles were all over the place this fall (at least that's what I think they might be).

No, it was wider. Its wings covered it wholl body and all you saw was the head. I would say it was as wide as or almost as wide as a dime at the end on the wings. Its head was quite small, it was about an inch long. :)
