Sochi Beehives on The Weather Channel

Since I can't post a URL, go to The Weather Channel and search under Video for "Sochi"  and you will see a clip titled "these-can-survive-sochi-climate-44199"

Interesting video clip on The Weather Channel.  They are saying these Caucasian bees are rare....
The hives are unique as well.  In the background you can see a fella removing a frame from a horizontal hive.
It would be interesting to hear comments from the beekeeping community.
