Split my hive

Finally got into my hive today. I had 2 hives beginning of winter for me, but lost one to shb. I had 1 hive go thru the winter very well.  Opened it up today and it was jam packed. Everyone looking at me as soon as I lifted the cover off. They were so calm and easy to work today. Don't know if it was because a front coming in,but warm, or if they were just in an awesome mood. Had to use very little smoke. Hubby even came over to look and was able to get close without being harassed. I split them today, perfect timing, I think.  Lots of brood of differing stages, lots of drones, bringing in pollen like it's going out of style. So very happy. Saw a couple queen cups too. Yeah!

Sounds good to me. I plan to split my hive this coming week too. Hope your bees are happy and your queens are fertile :-D
