I've been seeing a lot of dead drones in front of one of my hives. Today I only saw one, and there seems to be a  lot more pollen coming in.
This was my strongest hive but has been surpassed by the other one. I think I must have had a swarm or supercedure. If there were a virgin Queen in the hive would it attract an unusual number of drones?

I'm wondering if that is why I saw so many dead drones....

They are building some comb but nothing like the other hive (windows). I havn't opened it up and may wait another week or two to see what is going on. 2 deep brood boxes and still lots of bees.

I would say it is past time to open it up and find out what is going on.

Iddee....I was afraid you'd say that. I like going in...but always afraid I'll do more harm than good. So...if no larva (probably wont see eggs) then I need to add a frame from the other hive. Correct?

I've experienced that before but not necessarily the case.
Keeping bees since 2011.

Also please excuse the typos.  My iPad autocorrect can be brutal.

I would check, then wait one week if no larva, and check again. Add a frame at that time if needed.
