I am getting prepared to set up my hives and I think it would be wise to get a DVD course on it.

I have the read the Dummies book and a bit here and there. I also go to a Beek club so I am learning but I am thinking a course would be a good idea.

Any suggestions on courses/learning etc?

I will have two hives.

Brushy Mountain offers dvds if you are inclined to go that route.
They also have a video library:

flyboy;

I started on this forum with the latest post and started reading backwards. When you get to a stopping point add it to your favorite places. The next time you read do the same and delete the previous link. I did the same thing when I was learning about goats. Now I'm a genius.  :lau:

Ditto.  And "The practical beekeeper" Michael Bush and "Fifty years among the bees" C.C. Miller and others.

just jump.

that's how we started they swarmed in our front yard every year for five years.

we thought we should do something

so I called a beek friend. he helped us catch the swarm.

then left us alone.

did get us to join a club though.

dang they nearly take care of themselves. every 30 to 45 days add a box

ours swarmed a lot but she didn't want to disturb them

they exploded after that.

watch JP the bee man  he is out of lousizina

the fat bee man from georgia

youll find lots  some are good some not so

Like the others have said, read, watch videos, join a local club, just jump in,  find a class, and or maybe find a mentor.  My first few years I had lots of swarms, and caught most of them.  When I ran out of boxes to put them in I would give them to other beeks that had lost theirs.
Good luck
