The privet hedge around here has the new growth tender green blooms forming. Now we have a frost warning - lower thirties this week. Hopefully they will upgrade the forecast to a more warmer temperature. Not just privet, a couple more things are putting out.

Yep, one of my beech trees still has dead leaves hanging on and I haven't heard a whippoorwill.

forecast calls for a low of 36 tomorrow in butler.  my clover is just starting to open.  i expect it to really turn on after this rain.  poplars are just starting to put out leaves.  i'm about 3 miles from the only poplars i know about in the area so i may not see anything from that flow anyway.  i'm going to plant 50 pounds of buckwheat around the first of may.  my vitex trees and butterfly bushes got hit by that late frost a few weeks ago but are starting to put out leaves again.  it could end up being an interesting year if we have a hard freeze now.

GFS,
I heard a Whipperwill the night before last. I was surprised to hear it at 11:00 PM. We had the windows open.

The Barn Swallows were back yesterday. Right on schedule. But I woke up to sleet/snow mix this morning.  :(

Forecast has us down to 27° tonight through tomorrow. Appendages crossed that it doesn't hit the new buds too hard. The white clover is starting to bloom here. The Creeping Charlie is in full bloom and the bees are loving it. It is a pretty tough plant though. I have noted that most plants are behind their average maturity stage this year. And most likely SUMMER will arrive in full force next week. ;)

I'm still hearing whippoorwills down here, they are usually about gone by now.

GSF

We don't start hearing whippoorwills until the cold weather is about gone. ground nesters.

My tomato plants are ok.  I'm guessing it didn't frost out here.

Snowing here.  Forecast says 6-12 inches.
Keeping bees since 2011.

Also please excuse the typos.  My iPad autocorrect can be brutal.

We had frost this morning. Temperature here was 33 point something. Walking around looking at things I'd have to say the jury is still out. The tender little green shoots I saw yesterday are not burnt looking but they have been touched. The tender green has been replaced with a darker green.

We went down to about 41 degrees last night and it has been pretty windy all day. Bees did not want to fly. Just a few scouts. I am glad it did not get any colder and wipe out the flowers. 59 degrees right now.

Update; From what I can tell the cold weather really didn't hurt anything. It may not have been cold long enough.
