Here is a video I put together of my swarm trap set-up and the first swarm of the season.

Very nice!  I'm going to try it myself!  I just captured my first swarm of the season yesterday!

Nice video Robo. Thanks for sharing. It will help a lot of new beeks get swarms.

Nice!!!   is the X wire in the entrance a mouse guard?   I also really like the hanging stick with the entrance on the side.   Does the hanging stick extend below the bottom and get a screw on the top and bottom?

It is a squirrel & bird guard.  Even with the 1" I still occasionally get wrens building nests in them

It is a matter of personal preference where you put the entrance hole, I don't believe the bees care.   I like them this way as I can drive by many of my traps and check without having the get out of the car.  No the hanging stick doesn't go below, just flush with the bottom.   I like to spend as little time as possible hanging traps,  so all my spots have nails/screws into the tree/building  and the hanging stick has a large enough hole to go over it.   No need to screw and unscrew every year.

Thanks Rob
I like the design alot and think I'll may up a doz this weekend.  I think I will change the lid to a migratory style that I will still screw down when they are used as traps but will then give me the option of using them as nuc's in a pinch

I like the hanging stick Rob. Good luck on the swarms!
