My sister has rhumator(sp) arthritis in her hands. She has been asking be about getting stung to get relief. So my question are many.

How many stings?

Should each area that hurts on a single hand get stung?

Hands and fingers? Knuckles?

Basically I'm asking how many stings and where?

I don't want to put her in more pain and it not work because I done it wrong. Thanks

I too was wondering about these stings for healing. I have tennis elbow pretty bad and wondering if it would help that.

I used to have tennis elbow too.

I got it when I changed from a 3/8 drill to a 1/2 inch drill slinging that bothered my elbow.

went back to a 3/8 drill tennis elbow went away.

seams a few pounds makes a difference.

One sting. Wait an hour. Let her decide after that.

Sting right on the spot where it is painful. There are books on the subject. It's called apiatherapy.

I have arthritis starting in my hands from years of abuse. I let the bees decide where its best. Sometimes I don't think I need a dose, but.....they do. It really does help. To that I can attest. Good luck to your sister. G :chop:

Saw a program where a guy had a tore up shoulder & the doc had like six bees in those reverse tweezers, and did the stings in a perimiter of the joint.
I'm thinking she should talk to her doctor & get a prescription for a epi pen, before you-all proceed tho. She gets a full dose of venom from even one sting, bad things might happen.
Can't ever say that bk'n ain't a learning experience!

Did do on talking to doc first. I have ra in my shoulder and hands. I let the girls decide the places. Normally two or three lasts me about six weeks. I don't go looking to get stung. It gust happens when I'm going into the brood boxes. Or doing a cutout. It takes about 2-3 days before it starts reviving the joint pain.after the small swelling of the stings go away after a few hours

The couple that gave our bee club the talk on using bee stings to fix his MS showed us (after the talk) how his wife does the stinging.

She simply takes a bee in a tweezer and then stings hubby on the acupuncture points that lead to the parts of the body that are affected. They are not doing it in some perfect way, just ballpark. She did a bunch of stings. He is used to it and so the stings don't bother him anymore.

One of the reasons I got into beekeeping was due to a problem with my left shoulder. Problem went away by end of the summer. Next year with just 2 hives, I hardly got stung and the problem came back. Following year I had 12 hives before the end of spring and problem was gone. A lot more stings with 12 hives. I have customers that depend on bees to survive. They take one sting per day.

The guy who gave us the talk said that there is speculation that acupuncture came from PPL noticing the effect that bee stings had on the body.

It does work. Of the three main ingrediants in bee venom (there are over 50) one is a very powerful anti-inflammatory. To test, let her get stung once and monitor her reaction. Very few people are actually allergic and being brother/sister and you show no adverse rection than odds are she wont either.
One method I've read is to chill HER skin with an icepak so the sting hurt isnt too bad. Take a few bees and put them in a jar and then set them in the refridgerator for a lil while. The cold slows down the bees to where they can be handled. Then using tweezers or something, take a bee and push the hind end where she needs therapy. Then drop the spent bee in a glass of alcohol. Let that stinger sit for 15-30 seconds and then squeeze the sac pushing what little is left into her. Start off with the number of stings slowly. Maybe only one or two her first time. I read that after a tolerance is built up, that some take as many as 50-60 stings!!  Now thats a lot and I would not advocate that unless it was very serious and her tolerance to bee venomn was maxed out.  I have a touch of arthritis in my knuckles and after stinging...they hurt a lot less than before. Now if I could only do something about the itching!!!
Now I'm certainly not a doctor so please read and study on this before starting.
