Hi,
A newbie at bee keeping.
Was hoping to catch some bees to place in a hive.
My questions is-
Is it possible that I will catch an undesirable insect say like the common wasp?
Also I have a backyard that is roughly 14m X 7m. I do a lot gardening in this area and was hoping to not cause the bees to be aggressive towards me. I was thinking to mount the hive 7-8 foot above so that I would not walk directly in front of it. Basically my wife wants to none if this will work?

Regards

I often set up bait hives.  Yellow paper wasps often move in as do finches... and of course honey bees...

Welcome to the forum Matt.
If you want gentle bees, treat your bees gently. This includes how you handle the frames. Slide them in and out slowly, start from the end frames where are the least number of bees on them. Remove one frame to get enough space to keep from rolling bees when removing frames.
Do not use a brush, rolled bees get very defensive.
