Queen Excluder

Just wondering what PPL are using for queen excluders? Any designs?

I use the metal ones. The plastic one tend to get propolized to the inner cover. I mainly use them to keep the queen from getting smashed by the lid or inner cover.

Unfortunately you know how women are, maybe you should gather them all together and say .. "Ok. go lay in the honey combs."

I use the metal ones. If they get full of "junk" I can just take the torch to them without damage. My friend up the street started with plastic but he had some warp, not much but enough to hinder the bee space. -Mike

Usually I don't use them.  When queen rearing I occasionally use them.  The metal ones last well enough and are reasonable.  The wood bound ones have better beespace (they get burr instead of propolis) and you can see them so they are easy to spot.
