Strange behaviour

The other day while in the hive,  on several occasions a lone bee on the top of a frame bar would appear to stand on its hind legs beat her wings and run backwards a couple of inches - like a dolphin on its tail.

Anyone seen this behavior before?

No. If you see it again, take a video of it.
The only thing that I can think of is it sounds like the bee is scenting the hive like it was a new location that she was marking (tail down, marking with the nasonov gland) for other scouts to find. I have never seen it or heard of a bee doing it that way in any book but that may bee how they do it.
